Accomplishments
2004-2005 School Year
The 2004-05 school year was the Foundation's first at Sundance. In this inaugural year, the Foundation raised $40,000, which the school used to purchase a state-of-the-art 34-station computer lab. The lab was installed in the school's Learning Resource Center (the "library") and is used by kids at all grade levels for a variety of educational activities today. The Foundation continues to support the computer lab in the 2005-06 school year.
2005-2006 School Year
In 2005 and 2006, the Foundation also introduced the visual arts to Sundance students. The Foundation has established a new art-education program for students at all grade levels. This program is based on the materials of "Meet the Masters," an art-education series designed especially for kids in elementary school. The art program is overseen by a newly hired Art Coordinator, a position also funded by the Foundation.
2006-2007 School Year
In addition to continuing to support the computer lab and the art program we have completed our big project for this year. Our goal was to replace the track on the school's lower field. We have gone from a five to six foot wide track that puddled from the sprinklers or the slightest rain to a thirteen foot wide track. Principal Embry typically had to close the old track for up to two weeks after a rain. The new track has been run on by our kids the day after a rain. We could not have completed this project without the generous support of Sundance families and the surrounding businesses. Additionally, in 2007 the Foundation made a $3,000 grant to the Sundance Library to purchase books.
2007-2008 School Year
During the 2007-2008 school year, the Foundation made significant contributions to the school's technology. We provided document cameras for all of our teachers. This technology has greatly impacted the learning environment in every classroom. In addition, we secured a contribution from one of our Sundance families that, in conjunction with Hewlett-Packard, put a new printer in every classroom. We also continued our Meet the Masters Art Program which made a formal art class available to all students on a monthly basis.
So thank you for your support!
