2011-2012 School Year

(1) Fully funded an IMPACT TEACHER to assist our students with different learning needs and to help teachers reduce their class sizes so they can work even closer with their students, (2) Purchased access to Compass Learning, Reading Edition for one year, (3) Provided classroom support through our Fund-A-Need requests, and (4) Purchased a Promethean Board which was installed in Ms. Gillies' classroom.

2010-2011 School Year

(1)  Fully funded an IMPACT TEACHER to assist our students with different learning needs and to help teachers reduce their class sizes so they can work even closer with their students, (2) Completely updated the ENTIRE computer lab with newer computers and peripherals, (3) Added NEW SOFTWARE, like MS Office and Crazy Talk, to our computer lab to enhance all of our students’ study needs, and (4) Purchased NEW DocuCams for all classrooms needing replacement.

2009-2010 School Year

(1) Funded an Impact Teacher, (2) Raised $6,000 for classroom supplies from our Fund-A-Need request at the Auction, and (3) renewed the Brain Pop, V-Math Live and Reading Counts software licenses for use by all students.

2008-2009 School Year

The Foundation was faced with new challenges as the school district's budget changed the scope of the needs of our school.  The Foundation's initial concern was the need for an Impact Teacher on campus.  The teachers also started out the year with $5,000 for classroom supplies that came from our Fund-A-Need request at our auction last year.  We established a Grant Program that allowed the teachers the opportunity in the fall and in the spring to submit requests for funding for specialized projects.  In addition, we continuted to focus on technology by providing the school with two new computer programs, VMath Live and  Brain Pop/Brain Pop Jr., that the teachers themselved selected.  We purchased new document cameras for the classrooms that we did not have last year and also provided one to be used in the Multi-Purpose Room. We also, in conjunction with the PTA, donated funds to support the purchase of the new Reading Counts testing system.   The Foundation provided funding for the Everyone a Reader tutoring program which is designed and overseen by the San Diego County Office of Education.

2007-2008 School Year

During the 2007-2008 school year, the Foundation made significant contributions to the school's technology. We provided document cameras for all of our teachers. This technology has greatly impacted the learning environment in every classroom. In addition, we secured a contribution from one of our Sundance families that, in conjunction with Hewlett-Packard, put a new printer in every classroom. We also continued our Meet the Masters Art Program which made a formal art class available to all students on a monthly basis.

2006-2007 School Year

In addition to continuing to support the computer lab and the art program we have completed our big project for this year.  Our goal was to replace the track on the school's lower field.  We have gone from a five to six foot wide track that puddled from the sprinklers or the slightest rain to a thirteen foot wide track.  Principal Embry typically had to close the old track for up to two weeks after a rain.  The new track has been run on by our kids the day after a rain.  We could not have completed this project without the generous support of Sundance families and the surrounding businesses.  Additionally, in 2007 the Foundation made a $3,000 grant to the Sundance Library to purchase books.

2005-2006 School Year

In 2005 and 2006, the Foundation also introduced the visual arts to Sundance students.  The Foundation has established a new art-education program for students at all grade levels.  This program is based on the materials of "Meet the Masters," an art-education series designed especially for kids in elementary school.  The art program is overseen by a newly hired Art Coordinator, a position also funded by the Foundation.

2004-2005 School Year

The 2004-05 school year was the Foundation's first at Sundance.  In this inaugural year, the Foundation raised $40,000, which the school used to purchase a state-of-the-art 34-station computer lab.  The lab was installed in the school's Learning Resource Center (the "library") and is used by kids at all grade levels for a variety of educational activities today.  The Foundation continues to support the computer lab in the 2005-06 school year.
